Networking

One of the great things about Digital Eve is our ability to network, through the digest, the website, and the luncheons and events. In addition, this page will grow as more networking links and helpful hints come up.

DISCUSSIONS

Researching prospective employers

We've had some digest talk about where to research prospective new employers - so you could find out about quality, environment, people, etc. Here are a few places to start:

Joining the right company

But, now you've done your homework, made the contact, and scored the interview. Do you still really want to work there?? Here's a few tips from members:

  • Write out a description of your ideal environment so you focus on looking at what's important to you.
  • When you visit, look around at people as much as possible.
  • Also, check out the environment. Does it feel comfortable or shabby, exciting or just intense, pleasant or harried?
  • Pick up on conversations at visits and in social situations and how employees talk to one another.
  • Network with people in the company and query them.
  • During an interview visit, ask the employees you encounter how they feel working there.
  • Monitor how you are treated during an interview (and during the whole process, actually!)
